Reunion and another

We have been gone the last few weekends for Reunions.  First was my family (Jessica) and the Roger's Reunion and the next one was mine (Jordan) and the Squires Reunion.  It has been fun for us to meet more of each other's families... and to meet some of our own family.

ROGER'S REUNION:  June 23-24, 2012

Tyanne's Drawing of Great Great Grandpa and Grandma Roger's Home

Tyanne drew this a few months ago for our reunion shirt logos.  It turned out amazing, what can I say I have a talented sister!!  Getting ready for the reunion was a little stressful for me for some reason.  We were supposed to bring our piano, along with have a few numbers ready for our family talent show, and I had to have a picture printed and information ready to outline an ancestor in 2 minutes.  I was just so ready to get there and get everything over with.  Once we got there things were quite relaxing.  We played kickball with a bunch of little kids and had a blast, we also had a good volleyball match with some not so little kids, and we had some great food all around (biscuits and gravy with different kinds of gravy).  I, Jordan, tried elk and deer for the first time.  Yes i know that is lame but it was dang good.
The best part all around, however, was the cemetery walk.  Jess and many others had to prepare a 2 minute little spiel of one of the deceased ancestors.  To be honest, we were both worried that it was going to be very boring.  But after hearing some of the stories and interesting facts and seeing their pictures, it made the cemetery come to life... no pun intended.  We saw the tombstones with their names and our eyes lit up!  We knew who they were and where they came from.  It was like hopping into a huge pool filled with the Spirit of Elijah, instead of water obviously.

We have been really into Family History lately so it was really exciting to be able to learn so much and hear about their lives.

SQUIRES REUNION:  June 30, 2012
This was Grandpa and Grandma Squires 60th Wedding Anniversary, the Diamond Year.

Rachel singing one of Dad's songs
Jordan and I sang a song as well.. but luckily no pictures!!  We sang "My Little Buttercup" from the 3 Amigos.  It was so much fun.  I got Jordan to dance and sing with me.  We even were able to get some crowd participation.  All of the talents were great!

Grandpa Squires leaving us his Blessing.. it was beautiful!
Some of the "Children" took the opportunity to tell their parents how great they are.  I don't know this family as well as I would like but so far I love them all so much.  I told Jordan he is lucky that Grandpa Squires is already married and a little too old for me, I think I would snatch him up,  He is amazing!!  But I am glad we have Grandma Squires, I fell in love with her apricot jam and her pies already!

They got to cut the cake again they started out nice

But it didn't end so well
They are just the neatest couple.  I want to be just like them someday.  It makes me so happy that they have stuck it out for so long and still love each other so much, but obviously can still have fun after all this time.  They are great examples to all of us grandkids and that is our goal.  "I want to grow old with you"

60 years of SQUIRES
We have had a great couple of weekends with family.  It is the best thing anyone could do is spending time with family, getting to know them and learning to care for them.  I love learning from those who have already been through trials and life, and have made it out alive and happy!!   There is definitely wisdom in age.
